Merbau description

About Merbau

Merbau, as it is commonly known, is mostly distributed from Malaysia and Indonesia

Its heartwood has a light yellow-brown colour that darkens to a rich red-brown upon exposure, with a slight yellow fleck in the grain.

Merbau is classed as a hardwood that has a moderate density and a medium quality for steam bending. This timber can be worked with hand tools with a moderate blunting effect.

It generally dries well, without much degradation and minimal shrinkage.

Merbau Flooring

Merbau flooring is suitable for all domestic and commercial projects, and is a very popular species, commonly used for high-end refurbishments in place of Mahogany or Sapele.

Above are some examples of products that are available in this species. Below are some examples of projects that have been completed with this species.
