Engineered flooring is composed of two or more layers of wood in the form of a plank. The top layer is the wood species forming the flooring surface when the flooring is installed.
The increased stability of engineered wood is achieved by running each layer at a 90° angle to the layer above. This stability enables the product to be installed over all types of sub floors with some limitations depending on the width for under floor heating.
Our floors clearly indicate whether they are suitable for under floor heating. A search facility enables you to find floors that are suitable.
The diagram below illustrates the construction of engineered flooring.
Engineered 2-layer floors manufactured by NWF are constructed using a base of European waterproof Birch Plywood with a 4 or 6 mm layer of hardwood to create a product of exceptional stability.
Boards up to 240 mm wide are suitable for under-floor heating. The underside of the board has a special surface unique to NWF products, which allows greater conductivity of heat into the underside of the floor, providing a faster warm up time and lower heating costs when compared to similar products from other manufacturers.
The flooring is manufactured in our own factory, located in Romania due to the abundance of the high quality sustainable forest. We use high performance low emission glue to bond the top-layer, unlike many other imported engineered floors from unknown and questionable origin.
Industry leading UV Oils from Osmo Germany or UV Lacquer from Beckers of Sweden are used on our factory pre-finished floors.
